The Utah Arts Festival is now accepting applications for all musical performers. Completed applications and supporting materials must be received by the Utah Arts Festival no later than 5:00 P.M. on Friday, January 29, 2016. Applying is free until Jan. 1. Due to volume of applicants and processing requirements a $10.00 processing fee will be applied to applications submitted January 2-29. Please review all information below before completing your application.
2016 Deadlines & Important Dates
- Friday, January 29: Completed applications and supporting materials must be received by the Utah Arts Festival no later than 5:00 PM. Late applications will be accepted from January 2-29 with a $10 late fee. All music applications must be completed online.
- Friday, March 18: Notification letters sent to artists (accepted/not accepted)
- Friday, March 25: Contracts sent to artists (accepted)
- Friday, April 8: Signed contracts due back to Festival no later than 5:00 pm
- June 23-26: 2016 Utah Arts Festival

The 40th annual Utah Arts Festival will be held Thursday, June 23, through Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Library Square in downtown Salt Lake City. The 2016 Utah Arts Festival will feature an artist's marketplace, performance on six stages, an art exhibition, a children's art yard, food and drink from around the world, and much more. Attendance at the Utah Arts Festival averages 80,000. The Utah Arts Festival is presented by the Utah Arts Festival Foundation, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to promoting the arts in Utah. The 2016 Utah Arts Festival will expend more than $200,000 in marketing and advertising and will receive approximately $250,000 in editorial and media coverage.

Artists will be selected by a peer jury comprised of musicians, music critics, and other professionals in the performing arts. Artists serving as jury members, and the groups with whom they perform, are invited prior to the jury to perform at the 2016 Utah Arts Festival.
Jury selections will be based upon materials submitted with the application and on past performances both in Utah and at the Utah Arts Festival. The jury will look for professionalism, originality, creativity, and suitability of materials for the Utah Arts Festival.
Live performance is a very important aspect of our evaluation process, which is why we provide you with the opportunity to present that to us either with audio or video clips. Please provide relevant Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, or website links to help us make the best evaluation of your performance.
Completed applications and supporting materials must be received by the Utah Arts Festival no later than 5:00 P.M. on January 29, 2016.
Accepted performing artists are required to sign a contract with the Utah Arts Festival Foundation, Inc., specifying, among other things, payments, requirements and liability. Accepted performers grant the Festival permission to use submitted materials for archival, publicity, and web site purposes before, during and after the Festival.
Payment to musicians is based on American Federation of Musicians Local 104 two hour casual scale. The Festival does not pay transportation or housing for local or regional artists. No onsite payments will be made. All checks will be mailed by July 31, 2016.

The Utah Arts Festival will be in downtown Salt Lake City at the Library Square and Washington Square (the City & County Buildings). The Festival is a fenced, ticketed event with 24-hour security.
