The 2023 call for entry seeks one composer who identifies as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) of any age based in the U.S. to write a new work that will make its debut to audiences at the 2023 Utah Arts Festival. The theme of the project is race and representation and its impact in the field of classical music. The completed commissioned work will be 8-12 minutes in length, and work for six-piece chamber ensemble as follows: 1 Flute (doubling Piccolo), 1 Clarinet (doubling Bass Clarinet), 1 Percussionist, 1 Piano, 1 Violin, 1 Cello
Award Amount: $3,000
Deadline for Submission is TBA. The awarded composer will be announced by TBA.
Thanks to the support of the Leroy Robertson Foundation, no application fee will be charged for 2023 applications.
