The 46th annual Utah Arts Festival is scheduled for June 23 - 26, 2022 at Library Square in downtown Salt Lake City. The Utah Arts Festival is the largest, outdoor, multi-disciplined event held in Utah. Having garnered numerous awards internationally, nationally and locally, the Festival remains one of the premiere events that kicks off the summer in Utah each June. More than 70,000 patrons enjoy four days of award-winning fine arts in the Artist Marketplace, live performances on five stages, street theater, fine arts exhibition, a film program, children's art and culinary arts.
Artists will be selected by a peer jury comprised of musicians, music critics, and other professionals in the performing arts. Artists serving as jury members, and the groups with whom they perform, are invited prior to the jury to perform at the 2022 Utah Arts Festival.
Jury selections will be based upon materials submitted with the application and on past performances both in Utah and at the Utah Arts Festival. The jury will look for professionalism, originality, creativity, and suitability of materials for the Utah Arts Festival.
The Utah Arts Festival is working to ensure we balance tradition and innovation. Going forward the number of consecutive years an artist has participated in the Utah Arts Festival will be taken into consideration as part of the final selection process. The Utah Arts Festival reserves the right to “rest” an artist for one year after three consecutive years of participation.
Live performance is a very important aspect of our evaluation process, which is why we provide you with the opportunity to present that to us either with audio or video clips. Please provide relevant Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or website links to help us make the best evaluation of your performance. Please submit your most recent live performance video. If you do not have a live performance video, please submit a video of a recent rehearsal.
Completed applications and supporting materials must be received by the Utah Arts Festival no later than 5:00 P.M. on January 21, 2022.
Accepted performing artists are required to sign a contract with the Utah Arts Festival Foundation, Inc., specifying, among other things, payments, requirements and liability. Accepted performers grant the Festival permission to use submitted materials for archival, publicity, and web site purposes before, during and after the Festival.
Based on an average performance time of 50 minutes, performing artists who apply and are offered a performance opportunity through our juried process will receive $150 for the first group member or a solo artist and $100 for every member thereafter. A limited number of headliner and sub-headliner slots are available annually by invitation and the terms of these contracts are negotiated independently. The Utah Arts Festival does not pay transportation or housing for local or regional artists. No on-site payments will be made. All checks will be mailed by July 31, 2022.
Information packets detailing all production and setup information will be sent to accepted artists with their contract. Questions regarding the Utah Arts Festival may be directed to Festival offices, (801) 322-2428, by mail to 230 South 500 West, #120, Salt Lake City UT 84101, or emailed to .
