Opening Next Week: The 42nd Annual Utah Arts Festival June 21-24 at Library Square

SALT LAKE CITY, UT:  The Utah Arts Festival brings art to life through awe-inspiring performances, artistic expression, and surprising discoveries at the state’s largest outdoor multi-disciplinary arts event June 21-24 at Library Square.

“We continue to welcome, encourage and celebrate the thousands of micro- and macro moments that place art at the center of our community conversations,” says Lisa Sewell, Executive Director of the Utah Arts Festival. “Through this massive activation of public space, we look forward to welcoming you to the Utah Arts Festival—always a destination for unlimited possibilities, meaningful engagement, and artistic awakening.”

This year Festival patrons are invited to take their experience airborne with BANDALOOP, amplified with a new concert series, and upsized with their biggest and most competitive artist marketplace to date.

Arts Fest goes Airborne with BANDALOOP

Performing Daily, 5:30 and 7 p.m.  on the Library Glass Wall above the Reflecting Pool

BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography, and the art of climbing—all by utilizing the unique six-story curving glass façade of the Library as their stage.

The dancers of the Oakland, California-based BANDALOOP perform complex, dynamic choreography while suspended from climbing ropes. A pioneering ensemble in vertical performance, BANDALOOP works to honor nature, community and the human spirit through perspective-bending dance.

Amplify your Arts Festival Experience

The Festival is presenting four nights of top musical talent through a fresh take on their concert experience—Arts Fest Amplified— on the Amphitheater Concert Stage located inside the Festival on the northeast corner of Library Square.

The electrifying lineup features Ron Pope, Gomez, A-Trak, People Under the Stairs, and St. Paul and the Broken Bones.

The Utah Arts Festival’s Artist Marketplace Upsized

In the Festival’s largest and most competitive artist marketplace to date, 649 applicants competed for 175 visual artist booths. Sixty-three of the artists hail from Utah, and 56 of the artists are making their Festival debut this year.

Artistic mediums represented include 2D mixed media, 3D mixed media, ceramics, digital, drawing/pastel, fiber, glass, graphics/printmaking, jewelry, metalwork, painting, photography, sculpture, wearable art, and woodworking.
