"Gramarye" explores the interstices between music and language. Today, grammar is generally regarded as a ubiquitous study instilled in us from a young age in school. In the Middle Ages, however, knowledge of grammar was scarce enough to be considered a form of sorcery by the layman. "Gramarye" presents many variations of the opening harmonic material in varying textures that are each controlled by unique sound grammars.

Composer Sid Richardson writes concert music that imbues modern idioms with emotional grit and cerebral wit. His work explores the intersections of music and literature, drawing inspiration from the works of such writers as Beckett and Chaucer to create a style that focuses on harmony and timbre.
