Rock Camp SLC's mission is to empower girls, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth from all backgrounds through music education, collaboration, and performance. As a member of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance, they are one of many camps across the globe providing brave spaces for youth of marginalized genders to rock out! Their work is a direct attempt to amplify voices that have otherwise been told to be silent. Music, art, and creative expression are our tools in building a loud, celebratory, and formidable movement.

They provide instruments and mentors to teach the basics of drums, bass, guitar, vocals, and keyboards to youth from marginalized genders, ages 8-17. In addition to learning their instruments, campers form bands, write original songs, design band logos, and attend self-esteem building workshops during the week-long summer camp. At the end of the week, the campers perform their original songs at a professional music venue in downtown Salt Lake City in front of hundreds of screaming fans. The lessons about collaboration and self-improvement learned at camp are discussed around dinner tables, schools, and in gatherings throughout the year, changing the world, one little rocker at a time! In addition to youth programming, they host an annual fundraiser called Slay Lake City where women, transgender, and non-binary adults can participate in a 3-day camp to conquer their fears and fulfill their rock n' roll dreams.
