The 46th annual Utah Arts Festival is scheduled for June 23 - 26, 2022 at Library Square in downtown Salt Lake City. The Utah Arts Festival is the largest, outdoor, multi-disciplined event held in Utah. Having garnered numerous awards internationally, nationally and locally, the Festival remains one of the premiere events that kicks off the summer in Utah each June. More than 70,000 patrons enjoy four days of award-winning fine arts in the Artist Marketplace, live performances on five stages, street theater, fine arts exhibition, a film program, children's art and culinary arts.
Artists will be selected by a peer jury comprised of literary artists and critics.
Jury selections will be based upon materials submitted with the application and on past performances both in Utah and at the Utah Arts Festival. The jury will look for professionalism, originality, creativity, and suitability of materials for the Utah Arts Festival.
The Utah Arts Festival is working to ensure we balance tradition and innovation. Going forward the number of consecutive years an artist has participated in the Utah Arts Festival will be taken into consideration as part of the final selection process. The Utah Arts Festival reserves the right to “rest” an artist for one year after three consecutive years of participation.
Please complete the online application in full. Additionally, if you'd like, please feel free to include links to published works, performances, or a video of previous performances. However, being a published author or having footage of performances is NOT REQUIRED for a complete literary application. These are simply additional resources to illustrate your talent. Your attachments should reflect the actual type of performance you plan on presenting at the Utah Arts Festival.
Completed applications and supporting materials must be received by the Utah Arts Festival no later than 5:00 P.M. on January 21, 2022.
Accepted performing artists are required to sign a contract with the Utah Arts Festival Foundation, Inc., specifying, among other things, payments, requirements and liability. Accepted performers grant the Festival permission to use submitted materials for archival, publicity, and web site purposes before, during and after the Festival.
Individual artists are paid a standard rate that is based on amount of performance time: Performances up to 25 minutes will be paid $75; Performances from 26-50 minutes will be paid $150. Groups are offered a rate based on the number of performers with a maximum of six performers allowed for a 50-minute slot at a per person rate of $75. Please note that payments to groups will be one lump sum made out to the group or a designated representative, and not individual checks to each performer. The Utah Arts Festival does not pay transportation or housing for local or regional artists. No on-site payments will be made. All payments will be mailed by July 31, 2022.
Information packets detailing all production and setup information will be sent to accepted artists with their contract. Questions regarding the Utah Arts Festival may be directed to Festival offices, (801) 322-2428, by mail to 230 South 500 West, #120, Salt Lake City UT 84101, or emailed to .
